Saying Goodbye

We had to say goodbye to one of our very closest friends last night. He began the 16-hour journey from Minneapolis to Dallas last night and made his first stop at our house for a few hours. The foodie in me returned to celebrate the year of friendship we’ve enjoyed. It was my first big cooking attempt since Jacob was born and it was great fun – especially the half-hour when I was feeding Jacob while giving my two sous-chefs instructions. Mike was making the sauce, Grace was making the apple pie. This was our main dish: Oh wow.

We set a nice table and broke out a bottle of wine and listened to Rachmaninoff and Mahler. We toasted to decades more ahead of us. And these were a few of our fun moments.

Josh, we pray God’s richest blessings on you whatever comes next after Texas. You have been one of his richest blessings to us and we’re already missing you.
